Research interests: My primary research interest is the study of proteomes, identifying proteins through mass spectrometry coupled to liquid chromatography (LC-MS). I apply the proteomic approach to different organisms, following the complete pipeline from sample preparation to computational activities. In particular, I focus on bioinformatic analysis of large protein datasets, with several aims: detection of post-translational modifications, identification of activated and deactivated metabolic pathways, network analysis, and functional evaluation.

I am also interested in the study of melanins, widespread pigments in nature: from fungi to humans. I focus my research on the study of their structure and on their biosynthesis, through different spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques. April 2019 – September 2019 Post-doc fellowship at CNR-ITB (Milan) working on LC-MS based proteomics.
April 2018 – March 2019 Research fellowship at Fondazione Umberto Veronesi, with the project “Glioblastoma multiforme biomarkers discovery in tumor-derived exosomes through advanced proteomics”.
August 2016 – March 2018 Post-doc fellowship at CNR-ITB (Milan) working on LC-MS based proteomics.
Mar 2012 – July 2016 Post-doc fellowship at CNR-ITB (Milan) working on synthetic and natural melanins.
October 2008 – December 2011 Ph.D. at University of Pavia, Department of Chemistry. Title of the thesis: “Synthesis and characterization of neuromelanin models” under the supervision of prof. Luigi Casella.
